Startup Visa

They say god created the world, but the Dutch created the Netherlands. We don’t know, but we do know that water is embedded in the DNA of the Dutch. With nearly a quarter of the country below see level and another half just one meter above, the Netherlands is worldwide known for its endless fight against water. Furthermore the Netherlands has traditionally been a country that welcomes entrepreneurial spirits. After centuries of enterprise and ingenuity, the combination of innovation, trade and entrepreneurship remains a driving force within the nation’s economy and is a key source of economic renewal and job creation.

What beter place to choose for your water tech company to flourish then the Netherlands?

Of course we think that there is no better place to build your water tech company than the Netherlands and especially WaterCampus Leeuwarden. In the past years we created a unique place where research, education, knowledge and entrepreneurship in water technology come together. The ideal breading ground to start or further develop your water tech company.

Currently more than 250 companies and more than 25 knowledge institutions are connected to WaterCampus. Since the start in 2003, dozens of companies and innovations have emerged from the WaterCampus ecosystem. More than 2,500 employees now work on and around the campus in the Northern Netherlands. In the global network of affiliated companies this is the multiple. In other words, we always have the right people in our network to help you!

WaterCampus a Startup Visa facilitator

If you are an ambitious entrepreneur from a non-EU country, you can apply for a temporary residence permit for the Netherlands. This gives you one year to launch your innovative business. A precondition is that your startup must be guided by a facilitator based in the Netherlands. WaterCampus is a qualified facilitator. Interested? Don’t wait and apply now!

What we offer

To bring your startup to flourish we created a program along five pillars: talented people, market, capital, knowledge and state-of-the art facilities.

There is an integrated program at WaterCampus and within the Northern Netherlands innovation ecosystem that offers you, as an ambitious organization, the right support for all these pillars. Among other things you as a Startup Visa participant can get access to:

  • Several incubation and acceleration programs within the pillar talented people;
  • Potential partners and launching customers through the pillar market;
  • Funds under the supervision of WaterCampus or via our broad network of investors via the pillar capital;
  • All knowledge that it is impossible for you as a small organization to have in-house through the pillar (technological) knowledge;
  • All facilities you need to make your company a success via the pillar state-of-the-art facilities;

Most of the facilities we offer are free of charge or you can use it at a greatly reduced price.
