Business Development Course 2022 – 4 day training

City: Leeuwarden / online
Country: The Netherlands
Time: 14:00
Date: 15 February - 10 March

Researchers fulfill a crucial role in creating breakthrough technologies. However, an invention can only become an innovation and create the intended impact when it is successfully applied in the market. To achieve this researchers have to translate their research into solutions that can be valorized. This is exactly what the Business Development Course (BDC) is about.

Objectives

We aim to equip you with essential skills for your (future) career. You will learn about:

  • Transferring knowledge into a promising business opportunity (valorisation)
  • Creating an entrepreneurial spirit and innovative mindset
  • Bridging the worlds of science and business
  • Finding market demands and opportunities for water related challenges
  • Strategy and how to connect to business in the water sector
  • The startup opportunities and funding possibilities at around WaterCampus

Experienced teachers

The valorisation of knowledge into a potential high impact business is a complex task. A task that requires knowledge from the technology but also from non-technical aspects such as business models and marketing. During the course you get the opportunity to learn from the best! We will introduce you to experienced entrepreneurs and experts to guide you all the way through.

Find your co-founder?

We all know that we can create the highest impact by bringing people together with complementary knowledge and experience. That is why we set-up a cooperation with the master program Sustainable Entrepreneurship from the Campus Fryslân (University of Groningen). These students know all about knowledge-valorisation and setting up (circular) business models. During the Business Development Course we will connect you with one of these students. How great would it be if you meet your future co-founder in this inspiring course!

And the winner is…

The course will be completed with a pitch session. The winning team will be awarded with a grant of €2.500,= and entry tickets for the WaterCampus Business Challenge 2022 for two persons (worth € 1.300,=). The grant can be used to set the next step in the valorisation of your knowledge. Together we will work out the best plan. You will all receive a certificate of participation.

For whom

This course is intended for (PhD) researchers in the field of water technology. You do not need any previous experience nor have the ambition to start your own company (yet). Just be open to a new perspective that will benefit you the rest of your life.

Planning
